On 1 October 2023, a fire occurred in a building housing at least three nightclubs in Murcia, resulting in the deaths of at least 13 people and injuries to 24 others. The incident was recorded as the deadliest nightclub fire in Spain since 1990.

The fire began in the early morning hours, around 06:00 CEST, on the first floor of the Fonda Milagros club and rapidly spread to the adjoining Teatre and Golden nightclubs. Authorities identified the air conditioning system as a contributing factor in the swift propagation of flames and smoke. Police reports indicated that the Fonda Milagros suffered severe structural damage during the fire, ultimately collapsing as a result.

Emergency response involved over 40 firefighters and 12 emergency vehicles. Firefighters arrived at the scene at approximately 07:00 and brought the blaze under control by 08:00. Following the extinguishment of the fire, the first fatalities were discovered inside the building, highlighting the sudden and destructive nature of the incident.
