SAINT‐LAURENT‐DU‐PONT, France, Nov. 1 — A fire in a dance hall in this village killed 142 persons early today, trapping them behind emer gency exits that firemen and survivors said had been pad locked and then nailed shut with planks to keep out anyone without a ticket.
